How technology has revolutionized sports in recent years
Have you ever seen the difference between a professional athlete 30 years ago versus today and how the amount of skill has increased over the years. This is mainly because of the recent use of technology in sports. Data analysis is used in almost every sport to help players reach their maximum potential. Examples of this are to help golfers and baseball players have the fastest possible swing speed and how to get that, it helps lacrosse and hockey players know how fast they shoot and how they can change their form to shoot faster, and it helps football players see any mistakes that they make with blocking or throwing better than someone just looking at it and telling them what to do and help prevent injuries. One way data is being used for sports teams is to gather information about their opponents. Teams are able to look at past games of their opponents and use that as data for what types of plays would be most effective to run against them in football and what are certain teams strengths and weaknesses. Many sports programs around the country have started making entire departments dedicated to data analysis in recent years making sports analysts in very high demand. With the current technology available sports analysts are able to take data and simple visualizations to the coaches too then tell the players what to do based on that. Another way data is being used in sports is with wearable data. This is mainly used in hockey, lacrosse, and football to wear helmets and gather information that can help make the helmets better for injury prevention. The final way that sports teams are using data to their advantage is by gathering user data to see when people are most engaged so they can create more interactive and enjoyable experiences for spectators online and in person. Data analysis is one of if not the biggest reason why top athletes now are better than ever and why sports are still gaining more popularity.

I really enjoyed reading this blog. You really do a good job of connecting the multiple benefits of sports analytics to multiple sports and different strategies of analysis. I think it would help your writing even more if you were to show data of how technology has taught players to improve certain aspects of their game. For your next blog post, you could write about what goes into analyzing data and what being a data analysist is like. This blog is very understandable and I like how it connects to something that I really care about and the part about the crowd analysis also shows how analysists are beneficial to people besides the players.
