Why do you think Lennie was shot by George?

I think the reason George shot Lennie was because that he was in trouble for killing curly's wife and just wanted to put Lennie down before Curly could get to him. Also Lennie was getting in trouble all the time and this was his last chance before George was going to leave. One other reason is that if George did not kill him Curly was going too, so that is why i think George killed Lennie.
