Why did Curleys wife let Lennie touch her hair
In part 5 Lennie is playing with the dogs while the other guys are playing horshose. While Lennie is with the dogs Curleys wife comes toward Lennie. Curleys wife starts talking to Lennie then says"'you can talk to people, but i can't talk to nobody but Curley. Else he gets mad. How'd you like not to talk to anybody.'" (87). I think she wants to get closer and be able to control Lennie like George does and said that to get closer to him. I think Curleys wife let Lennie touch her hair so Lennie will trust her and think he can be around her without getting in trouble.
That is a good point Teaghen. I think it is worthy to note that Curly's wife didn't like Curly, and she was possibly looking for someone else to touch/love her. She might have wanted a big guy like Lennie to be his wife, instead of short Curly. But one thing is for sure; she did not understand Lennie's strength, because if she did, she differently not be wanting him to touch her at all. Letting Lennie touch her hair ultimately ended in her death.
