Part 3: Why does George tell Slim about what happened in Weed?

In the beginning of Part Three, Slim and George are sitting down at the card table in the bunkhouse. They start talking about how Slim had to drown some of his pup's because the mother couldn't give that much milk. But, when Lennie had learned about the dogs, he wanted to pet them as much as possible because he pets the things he likes. As they start talking, Slim laughs at the fact that two guys are traveling together. George gets triggered over this fact and launches into story mode. He begins by talking about how "Him and me (George) was both born in Auburn. I knowed his Aunt Clara. She took him when he was a baby and raised him up. When his Aunt Clara died, Lennie just come along with me out workin'. Got kinda used to each other after a little while." (Steinbeck 40). George then starts to talk about how Lennie will do anything George tells him to. This gives the suspicion that Lennie might have a mental disability. After that, George tells Lennie about what happens in Weed. After reading the passage, I have learned that the reason Lennie tells Slim about what happened in Weed, is because he trusts him based on his gut.
