Title: Why do you think Candy's dog is very cautious of Curley, towards the end of part 2

Hi Class of 2023! One of the things that stood out the most to me in, Of Mice and Men was the cautiousness of Candy's dog towards the end of part 2. In the last paragraph of part 2, Candy's dog laid down in front of the open door. But, as soon as Curley came in he raised his head, until Curley left. The fact that a dog was so cautious about Curley just simply looking inside the door, really can tell you a lot about Curley's character. My idea of what happened was that Curley is very harsh, dangerous, and suspicious character.  This is because dogs don't usually put their heads up when a person or thing walks into a room.  Especially, a person who Curley's dog has known for a very long time.

Did anyone have any thoughts about the last paragraph of part 2?
