How does George show leader ship?

George in Of Mice and Men shows a lot of leadership towards Lennie as sort of his "caretaker" For example he always takes care of Lennie like covering for his speaking. I think this means that George doesn't really trust Lennie in taking care of him self. George is the obvious leader in these situations.
In another situation Curley walks in and makes Lennie speak. At this time George needs to give Lennie a little nod for him to start speaking. I think this means that Lennie needs George to care for him and that he doesn't know what to do or when to do it, so once George gives the approval he speaks. In another incident George inspected his bed and immediately does the same. This means that Lennie thinks that everything George is correct.

Does anyone else have Leadership examples from George?
